A seminar by Mary Virginia Swanson with special guest Rania Matar
Tuesday, March 20th, 2012, 9:30 am -1:00 pm at the Downtown Houston Doubletree Hotel - Book signing at the Houston Center for Photography on March 21.
- Exhibition opening and book signing at Galerie Janine Rubeiz, Beirut on April 11.
- Book signing at Umbrage Gallery, Brooklyn NY on May 9.
- Rania's forthcoming monograph, A Girl and Her Room, is being published by Umbrage Editions and is due to be released in the spring of 2012.
- Rania won First Prize at Off the Wall Juried Exhibition showcasing contemporary work by New England artists, curated by Ms. Susan L. Stoops, Curator of Contemporary Art at the Worcester Art Museum.
- Recipient of an Artist Fellowship, MCC Grant in Photography 2011, Massachusetts Cultural Council.
- Rania won the Legacy Award at Griffin Museum of Photography in the 17th Juried Exhibition, curated by Debra Klomp Ching, owner of Klompching Gallery, NY.
- Rania was a winner in the PDN Magazine Photo Annual 2011 in the 'Personal' category. Her work was featured in the June edition of PDN.
- A Girl and her Room won the People's Choice Award for the finest photography in New England in 2010.
- Several pieces from Rania's work were recently included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, and in the Contemporary Photography Collection of the Worcester Art Museum, Worcester MA.
